Unreality
In 4 days I'm going on holiday.
That sentence just doesn't feel real. The concept of holiday seems so distant from the daily chaos at the moment. And yet it is going to happen.
The signs are there. Suitcases are out of the cupboard. Itineraries are being printed. Arrangements are being put in place and today I bought foreign currency.
And yet, it just doesn't feel real. I always find it amazing that disconnect we can have between what we logically know and what we emotionally feel. I keep wondering to myself when the excitement will kick in. Today, tomorrow, as we board the plane?
But whenever it happens - in 4 days I'm going on holiday.
P.S. I will be blogging as time and internet access allows while we are away and you can also follow me on twitter at @LisaRobey

Deleteyay! have fun, so exciting. Have a ball :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi xo
Your trip is soon too, you must be feeling like this Heidi. It will be brilliant, just have to get there and not get one of the hideous colds doing the rounds of my office.
DeleteBrilliant! I am as well. But Im leaving Blighty - where it looks like you'll be going if the photo is any indication.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yourself!
Yup, there will be a few days in London, can't wait to catch up with friends there. Must be a good time for holidays all round!
DeleteEeek, I am so excited for you! I Hope you have the most amazing time Lisa. I'm like you and the last week before a big trip is a blur of chaos, things to do, and a fair amount of stress. The excitement usually kicks in at the airport, or on the plane :) I'm certainly sure it will get to you soon enough!
ReplyDeleteAt this point Kari I think it will be when we are on the plane out of Melbourne. Our plane out of Canberra is an hour known only to God and parents of small children, I doubt I will feel excited at that hour of the morning.
DeleteFor me, it never feels real until I'm on the way to the airport, and I never really feel excited in the lead-up either. I think a part of me closes off emotions to protect myself in case anything goes wrong and prevents the trip!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about your adventures :)
Oh, and in response to the early flight from Canberra, it's the only way to do it in winter. Nothing worse than getting trapped by fog! First flight out always! :)
Yup, we are on the anti-fog flight! Good thing too because with the rain this weekend I think there is a real chance of a fog day. Ahhh the things us Canberrans think about.
DeleteYay yay yay!!! I have my overseas currency too. Packing next weekend :)
ReplyDeleteHave the best time.
Thank you so much for your constant support too x
