I don't mind a bit of wild weather. It is interesting to watch, every time I look out the window today there seems to be something else going on. And holding a hot mug of tea in my hands with the rain pelting at the window (even if it is the office window) is one of those things that is 100% guaranteed to make me feel instantly cosy.
I was intending to start this blog entry with a definition of cosy, yet apparently the Internet isn't able to provide me with one! Not even Wikipedia could define it. So here are some of my thoughts on what cosy is, please let me know what yours is.
Cosy - a feeling of warmth and comfort eg:
- Snuggling with a loved one under a doona
- Sitting in front of an open fire with a warm beverage in hand
- Having a pet curled up on your lap
- A comfy chair, a good book, a lamp and a mohair rug on a cold night
- A hot cup of tea on a cold rainy day
Wild weather indeed! I'm definitely in favour of the warm cup of tea whilst looking out at the rain.
ReplyDeleteI'd also add 'safe' to your list :) For me, cosy means feeling snug and warm and safe.
I'm a big fan of cosy too.

I so agree Kari, actually I was going to put safe and forgot so thanks for adding that.
ReplyDeleteThanks SSG, cosy is lovely.
The prospect of being home, warm and dry, eating tea and cake, when you're walking out in the cold wind and rain. While the realisation of that prospect is always lovely, it never quite exceeds how wonderful you imagine it's going to be.
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree with all of these! Definitely being warm and snuggly with coffee and chocolate and a book/favourite DVD while it's raining outside, knowing you don't have to go anywhere. Also, hugging my mum, because she makes me feel loved and safe :)
ReplyDeleteAnd oat bran cooked with soy milk and topped with chocolate, nut butter, and maple syrup.
Floss - isn't it funny how we usually imagine things to be just a little more perfect than they actually are? I think that is because our brain is an excellent editor.
ReplyDeleteHannah - how did I know that you would include chocolate in your definition of cosy!
