The warmth of the winter sun

Canberra is known for cold winter nights. What it isn’t known for is the sunny days that accompany them. It is one of the joys of living in Canberra to sit outside under crystal clear blue skies, in crisp still air, warm in the sun. If you have never done it, it is hard to appreciate just how nice that contrast is, but today, only the second day of Winter and I got to have my lunch in that gorgeous winter sun. A cloud drifting across the sky was quick to remind us that it really is only about 12 degrees, but soon the sun was back and my little half hour of basking was a lovely relaxing point in the day.
